A clear guide to how temporary cover prices can vary — and what you should review before proceeding.

PRICING, WITHOUT THE GUESSWORK

Why one temporary quote can differ from another

Temporary insurance prices are not fixed for every driver or vehicle. They can depend on the information supplied and on the insurer or provider's eligibility and rating criteria.

The final price and terms should always be displayed before you agree to pay. If a quote is unavailable, it does not automatically mean your vehicle is uninsured under another policy.

WHAT MAY MATTER

Information that can influence the price

01 / VEHICLE

Your vehicle

The type, age, value, performance and other vehicle characteristics may affect eligibility or price. A DVLA registration lookup identifies vehicle details; it is not itself an underwriting decision.

02 / DRIVER

Driver information

Age, licence details, driving history and other details requested during the quote process may be considered by the provider.

03 / DURATION

Length of cover

Cover for one day can be priced differently from a longer period. The dates and exact start/end times matter.

04 / USAGE

How you plan to use the car

Permitted driving purpose, declared details and insurer acceptance determine what options may be available.

05 / AVAILABILITY

Insurer criteria

Each insurer can have different eligibility rules, exclusions and limits. Not every vehicle or driver will qualify.

06 / QUOTE

The total shown

Review the quote breakdown, any separately disclosed fees and the final payable amount on checkout.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A little more clarity.

Still have a question? Our support centre can point you in the right direction.

Is a DVLA lookup a quote?

No. A lookup only retrieves vehicle information. Pricing and availability are considered separately.

Does a displayed price guarantee cover?

No. Cover depends on the insurer's acceptance and the terms of a valid issued policy. A quote or payment screen alone is not proof of insurance.

Can the price change if I edit my details?

Yes. Changes to the vehicle, driver, dates or other declared information can affect the quote or eligibility.

Where can I find payment information?

See payment help and the checkout summary for relevant information.
